Motor insurers report up to 50% reduction in claims due to coronavirus lockdown

Reduced traffic on the roads since the Government lockdown announcement on 23rd March has seen a 50% reduction in motor claims. At the same time, some insurers are reporting the accidents occurring appear to be more severe, possibly because motorists facing less congestion are able to drive at higher speeds.
